It is important to teach our children about our history. However, bringing up these conversations might be difficult, especially when we need to adapt the answer to be age-appropriate.
What do your kids know about the Holocaust? How can we ensure that it will never happen again?
OFEK offers a variety of courses that explore how and why the Holocaust happened using videos, primary resources, survivors’ artwork, a virtual tour of the Holocaust Museum, and survivors’ reflections and testimonies.
Learning about the Holocaust can inspire each of us to think critically about the past and our responsibilities in the present and for the future. We will examine the implications of the Holocaust in our own lives and our role as keepers of the memory and guardians of justice today. Our courses approach the topic with the goal of making complex issues accessible and engaging for all students.

In this class, we will explore the power of Hollywood’s first blockbuster Holocaust film, “Schindler’s List,” and the impact it had on the world, the future of Holocaust movies, and Holocaust education
Ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is observed in January, we invite you to participate in this program specifically curated for teens. Using primary sources, eyewitness testimony, and survivor accounts we will explore what life was like for different individuals with varying perspectives during the Holocaust.
Inspired by Anne Frank’s Diary of a Young Girl, ‘Shoah Diaries’ is a creative writing and character development course that combines history with written responses involving empathy and critical thinking, imagining how real historical events would impact their character and the ones closest to them.
In this course, we will explore the life of Anne Frank before the war, while in hiding, and the legacy she left the world. We will also examine her family members, the other people in hiding with her, and those on the “outside” who made this survival effort possible for over 2 years.
Voices from the Holocaust II: Advanced Holocaust Studies
This class will focus on a more in-depth study of the history of the Holocaust, examining the different roles of victims and perpetrators, and the social hierarchies that developed in each setting. We will dissect primary source photos and text while continuing to hone our critical thinking skills regarding the major themes of the Holocaust – words, choices and personal responsibility.

The activism team is preparing a session about School Watch and how to be proactive in the school for parents so they will have the tools to act when facing antisemitism in the schools. Please invite your community members to join this important event! The session will be held in Hebrew.
